Intellectual Audio on the Web
There are many high quality sites offering intellectual lectures, conferences, seminars, and interviews etc for download to portable media devices, such as mp3 players . These audio shows are great listening in the car, train, plane etc and I even hear them while cooking, cleaning and exercising. These are just the best of what I could find, however , new sites come online every few weeks. So email me with any suggestions, corrections.

Some of these sites do not let you download the podcasts. However, there is a program that lets you record the audio from your computer speakers to mp3. You can download CDEx here. CDex is open source and free .
After installing it run it and go to Tools -> Record from Analog Input. Under Output File Type select LAME Mp3 encoder. Then just buy a simple RCA cable that plugs into both your mic and headphone jack at the same time, thereby connecting the two. You may not need to buy the RCA cable if your sound card supports 'Wave Out'. If it does, then set your Volume Properties -> Recording to Wave Out.
Otherwise if using the RCA cable, set the mic input to be 'Line in'. You can do this under your adjusting volume properties and click on recording. Last set your main and wave volume to 50%.
